Student Council
|
The Making of the Student CouncilThe Karafin School Student council was created in 2004 to give the students a voice in the school and an opportunity for community service. It has become an important and respected organization in the school which encourages students to be responsible and mature and to enjoy the chance to work closely with members of the staff on an equal footing. All students are invited to run for election to the Karafin School Student Council. Students who are interested in being candidates will give their names to their counselors during September. Candidates are given an opportunity to make a brief speech to their peers just before the elections are held at the end of September. Each grade votes for its own representatives and the first meeting of the newly elected council is held early in October. Being a member of the Student Council is both a privilege and a responsibility. A high standard of personal and academic integrity is required. Students must remain in good academic standing throughout the school year in order to maintain their membership.
